Lesson 4.5 - The Ten Commandments: Love God

Session 4.5 "The Ten Commandments: Love God"
Exodus 19:1-20:11; 31:18

This week, we continued our journey through the Bible using The Gospel Project® for Kids and examined the first four of the Ten Commandments. These commands were given by God through Moses to teach His people how to love and worship Him. God demands perfect obedience, something none of us can do. And that’s the point of the law - to show us of our need for another way to be right with God; a way found only in Jesus.

Help your kids understand that God is holy and expects us to be holy as well and we can be holy because of Jesus.

Lesson 4.4 - The Golden Calf

Moses -  Session 4.4 "The Golden Calf"

This week, our journey through the Bible using The Gospel Project® for Kids took us to when Moses went up Mt. Sinai to talk with God for 40 days. During that time, the people rebelled against the one true God and asked Aaron to make a golden calf to be their god. When God became angry, Moses interceded on their behalf.

Help your kids connect Moses interceding for Israel that day with Jesus interceding for God’s people today.

Lesson 4.3 - The Wilderness Test

Lesson 4.3 - The Wilderness Test
Jan 10th
This week, we continued our journey through the Bible using The Gospel Project® for Kids and learned that God provided food and water for His people as they wandered in the wilderness. When Israel became hungry and thirsty, they grumbled about Moses and God, and God graciously provided for them even if they did not deserve it. In the same way that God provided for Israel’s physical need, God provides for the spiritual need of people through Jesus.

Help your kids understand that God is gracious and He freely gives what we need - including Jesus - not because of anything they have done, but because of God’s goodness alone.

Lesson 4.2- The Plagues, the Passover, and the Crossing of the Red Sea

Lesson 4.2 - The Plagues, the Passover, and the Crossing of the Red Sea
January 3rd
This week, we returned to our journey through the Bible using The Gospel Project® for Kids and learned about God leading the Israelites out of Egypt. God used miraculous plagues to show Pharaoh and the Egyptian people that He alone is God and graciously spared the Israelites from the final plague when they trusted in Him and put the blood of a lamb around their doors. God spared Israel by the blood of a lamb, but Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Help your kids understand that God’s salvation of His people is always by grace through faith and remind them of their need for Jesus to forgive them of their sin.

Lesson 4.1 - Moses was Born and Called

Lesson 4.1 - Moses was Born and Called
December 27th
This week, we continued our journey through the Bible using The Gospel Project® for Kids and learned about Moses’ birth and calling. Moses was chosen by God to help deliver God’s people out of Egypt. When God’s people cried out to God, He responded and miraculously rescued them from physical captivity. Jesus was a greater Deliverer because He rescued God’s people from captivity to sin.

Help your children connect the Exodus back to Joseph bringing His family into Egypt and forward to Jesus rescuing God’s people from sin.

The lessons in this unit are based with this question in mind. When doing your home devotionals, make sure you are working with your child on understanding this big question.

 *********************************************************

Parents, we would LOVE to hear about how your family devotions are going!
  • Is the material being shared helpful?
  • Are students excited to bring home materials to share?
  • Is your child able to talk about the story that was taught?
  • Are your children making connections from the Bible story to their lives? We really want our children to see that the Bible and its teaching are still relevant today.
Please leave a comment-or two- in the comment section at the end of this post. We want to hear from you!
